Customer satisfaction is main reason to switch utilities supplier

Utilities companies are falling behind businesses in other industries when it comes to providing best-practice customer satisfaction, it has been suggested.
According to new figures outlined in the first ever National Customer Satisfaction Index, customer satisfaction with energy and gas suppliers fell by 5% over the past year to 63 points on an index of 100.
Compared to the UK economy average of 73 points, utilities earned the lowest individual industry score, with five of the largest six energy providers experiencing declines of at least 3%.
A Which? report in April 2009 showed that nearly all of the utility suppliers were doing far too little to keep their customers happy, with the average customer satisfaction rating only 47% - less than that of banks!
However, there is some good news in all this. Which? magazines report followed a similar survey in October 2008. In both these reports, Utility Warehouse came out on top. In fact Utility Warehouse were the only supplier whose rating increased over the two surveys.
Utility Warehouse received a rating 83%, compared to the best of the "Big 6" companies, SSE, getting only 53%.
