Brazil to become one of the worlds leading economies
Published ¤ 27/07/2009
IMF Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn said in June, "Brazil once more affirms its strong role as a leading emerging market economy".
This is just one of the many statements about Brazil's potential to become one of the leading economies in the next few years. Indeed, Sam Zell, billionaire property mogul was quoted in December "If you look at all of the facts, I don't think there is a better environment in all the world than Brazil". Zell has even suggested that Brazil could surpass China in economic might in 30 years!
Zell's company, Equity International, is now seeking new property-related investments in Brazil as record low interest rates accelerate growth in Latin America's biggest economy. His company's five investments in the country were worth $718 million as of July 6 2009, showing how bullish he is.
Other recent quotes:
"Emerging giants like Brazil are set to rebound strongly next year. It's good to have a locomotive out there pulling the train." (OECD - The New York Times 24 June 2009)
"If talk of green shoots makes sense anywhere in the world it is in Brazil." (FT 6 July 2009)
